PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY OF VANCE O. KNAPP, ESQ.*

Vance O. Knapp, Esq., is a partner in the Labor & Employment Law Department at Sherman

and Howard, L.L.C. Mr. Knapp has extensive experience representing employers in internal

investigations, employee terminations, responding to discrimination and harassment claims,

ADA accommodation issues, and defending employers in collective and class action wage and

hour matters. Mr. Knapp has litigated employment cases throughout the U.S. in federal, state

and municipal courts. As a former prosecutor for the Denver City Attorney’s Office, Mr. Knapp 

tried over 300 cases.

Mr. Knapp has also lectured and written extensively on labor and employment matters. Mr. 

Knapp has been interviewed by KUSA 9News on “How Your Facebook Status Could Get You 

in Trouble at Work.” He has also been interviewed by Newsweek, The Denver Post, and The 

Denver Business Journal on the impact of medical and recreational marijuana in the workplace. 

Mr. Knapp is a past president of the Sam Cary Bar Association, Colorado affiliate of the 

National Bar Association. Currently, he is a board member of The University of Colorado Law 

Alumni Board, and The Legal Center for People with Disabilities and The Elderly. 

Mr. Knapp is a Colorado native. He graduated from the University of Colorado Law School, and 

Colorado State University.
