The Co-Host for the Februarys’ Denver Happy Hour is Shannon Bortolotto, Amendment XXI (Wine & Spirits Shop in Lower Highland). I met Shannon & her husband Leo when they first opened Amendment XXI Wine Shop.. She is a great person, has a great shop and happens to be one of my VIP Clients. Their Wine Shop is just a few doors down from my office and Forest Room 5. For those that haven’t been.. Forest Room 5 is the first bars in the lower highland neighborhood. The owners change the look of the bar daily. The food is really good. Especially the Yellow Fin Tuna and the Truffle Fries.. Come check it out!

Amendment XXI was opened in December 2010 by my husband, Leo Bortolotto, and me, Shannon Johnson-Bortolotto. The pervasive idea when opening Amendment XXI was to interface with the Lower Highlands/Highlands/Lodo Neighborhoods to deliver amazing service surrounding wine, craft beers and spirits. We opened with the intent of offering wine education, product guidance, and palate expansion through our stock selections and weekly tastings. Leo is also an excited consultant when matching our wines, beer & spirits with cuisine. We also wish to maintain wine culture as a basis for great entertaining and dining throughout the North Denver Neighborhoods! We are highly involved in neighborhood expansion opportunities through Highland United Neighbors Inc. (HUNI) and support local businesses. We proudly live in Lower Highland and welcome the opportunity to establish friendships and provide business service for our neighbors!
In addition to the wine shoppe, I am an Advanced Practice Nurse at the University of Colorado Hospital and function as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in critical care. My career in healthcare has afforded me many opportunities to serve those most critically ill throughout the state of Colorado as well as neighboring states of Wyoming, Nebraska and Kansas. My work in the wine shoppe is an incredible balance to my highly technical and scientific life at the hospital. I look forward to helping those who wish to entertain, attend social events or just relax at home when in the shoppe. I have learned that balance is the key to a long and happy life and we hope to add to north Denver’s cultural spirit and vigor through impressive wine, craft beers and spirits!
+ More About Forest Room 5
A block west of I-25, near the 15th Street bridge, Forest Room 5 is just hip enough to be cool without being trendy. With its dim lighting and candles on the tables, this upscale neighborhood spot attracts a youthful crowd most days of the week, especially on the weekends. While the place is spacious and houses a few different rooms, some of which can be rented out for private functions, it still retains a fair amount of intimacy, and it's easy to find a spot to have a private conversation. In addition to cocktails, wine and beer, Forest Room 5 serves a full menu that includes seared ahi tuna sliders, mini-burgers, bruschetta, pizza, mac-and-cheese and more. ~ Westword
